The Man of the Year Award

The purpose of these awards is to recognize present members of the volunteer fire service who have served his/her department, community, and the state above and beyond normal expectations during his/her service as a volunteer firefighter within 2025-2026 year since the previous award. Candidates should demonstrate commitment to their department and community and have contributed in a positive manner to the enrichment of their fire department and community that they represent. Eligibility for Nomination: Individuals should be a current member of the volunteer fire department within the State of Alabama. All nominations should include accomplishments, length of service, extra ordinary services in the line of duty (i.e. saving a life, removing someone from a burning building, car, etc.) and any other related pertinent information. All nominations must be signed by Fire Chief and one other officer of the department or two (2) members of the Board of Directors if a chief is nominated. Nominations must be received in the Alabama Association of Volunteer Fire Departments office no later than Friday, May 15, 2026. Please mail to AAVFD, Post Office Box 2490, Montgomery, AL 36102.
